It is being called one of the worst attacks on the Army since Kargil - 18 armymen killed in a single ambush in Manipur's Chandel district. The 6 Dogra regiment was being de-inducted and on their way out of the state. The Naga insurgent group, NSCN (K) has claimed responsibility for the strike. The Defence Minister, calling it a cowardly act, says the insurgents will be severely punished.
