A day after the video went viral, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar over the phone, expressing great pain at the "abject theatrics" of some of the MPs. President Draupadi Murmu too was dismayed at the disrespect shown to the office of Rajya Sabha chairman. TMC chief Mamata Banerjee said categorically that Kalyan Banerjee didn't intend to insult the vice president and had it not been for Rahul Gandhi recording it people wouldn't have even known about it.
