The Tripura assembly election was held today amid massive security by central forces. Over 28 lakh voters decided the fate of 259 candidates including 31 women. Right from the morning, a large turnout was seen outside polling booths. The final turnout 92 per cent. For the BJP, it is a battle to retain power against an alliance the Left and the Congress, which have shared seats. The new party Tipra Motha has traction in tribal areas.
