Former Supreme Court judge Markandeya Katju has alleged that a Madras High Court judge was not sacked despite corruption allegations because of a Tamil Nadu ally of the UPA government and "improper compromises by three Chief Justices." Justice Katju, who was Chief Justice of the Madras High Court before being elevated to the top court, has said that the 'tainted' judge had the support of a Tamil Nadu politician whom he had granted bail after a dramatic midnight arrest by the AIADMK government.
