Assam riots: PM promises thorough probe, announces Rs. 300 cr for relief
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has announced Rs. 300 crore relief for violence-hit Assam today. On a visit to the relief camps in Kokrajhar he said the recent violence is a blot on the face of the nation. 52 people are dead and almost four lakh homeless in the clashes so far. Traumatised people are now crowding 250 relief camps set up by the government. The PM said the biggest challenge is to provide healing touch to the victims.
