Security was increased at the Delhi High Court today for a hearing on JNU student Kanhaiya Kumar's request for bail, but it could not be taken up for technical reasons. The Supreme Court declined to take up Mr Kumar's bail petition and transferred the case to the Delhi High Court. It also asked the Centre and the Delhi Police to ensure that his lawyers get protection. This even as National Human Rights Commission said that the attack by lawyers on Mr Kumar in the Patiala House courts complex on Wednesday "appears to be organised and pre-planned." Amidst the chaos, hundreds of lawyers marched on the streets of Delhi today, responding to a call by Vikram Singh Chauhan, the advocate at the heart of attacks on reporters and supporters Kumar.
