Auditor vs Government: the final showdown
As the Comptroller and Auditor General of India Vinod Rai steps down, old sparring partner Manish Tewari today hit out saying he did the greatest damage to the India story with unverified figures of public loss and challenged him to a one-on-one debate. This as Mr Rai maintained he stands by every one of his reports and feels sorry for those who tout a zero loss theory. Meanwhile, there's a new controversy over the appointment of the Defence Secretary Shashi Kant Sharma as the new CAG, with senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan asking how will he as CAG investigate deals signed during his tenure as defence secretary.
