"So many people protesting is very rare. Chinese authorities need to get to the bottom of this. China is already a democracy. If China has learnt anything from 1989 is that it cannot have another revolution. voices raised by some of the protesters are absolutely wrong," Victor Gao, chair professor, Soochow University VP, said when asked whether the recent protests in China point to a pro-democracy movement.
