The Bombay High Court came down heavily on the police about the circumstances leading to the killing of the 23-year-old sexual assault accused in the Badlapur case of Maharashtra. Raising questions over the encounter by the police, the court said it was hard to believe that the police could not overpower the accused. The court was hearing a petition filed by Akshay Shinde's father two days after he was shot dead in custody. The bench also asked for footage of CCTV cameras on the route, adding that they expect an impartial investigation. Opposition Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena in the state also questioned the police's version adding that murder or encounter was done to save the main accused. Watch Left Right and Centre.
