Banning Lal Battis Will Start New Era Of New Politics: Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari

Roads and Transport minister Nitin Gadkari, speaking exclusively to NDTV on the government's decision to ban red beacons or lal battis, said, "This is a very important decision for democracy because lots of people have a lot of hatred with the behavior of politicians. And the red light system has become just a status symbol. So by today's decision it can start a new era of new politics." On the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party claiming credit for the move, he laughed and said, "I am also giving special thanks for that, have no problem with anybody taking credit. The good news is lal battis have gone today." The minister also hinted that VVIP security, which is often asked for as a status symbol, may be next.
