On Vijaya Dashami, West Bengal bids goodbye to Goddess Durga after several days of festivities. Across Bengal, the ritual of Sindoor Khela took place with married women applying vermillion to each other. This year the festival has gained international stature with its inclusion in the UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage of humanity list and from pujas being organised in the UK, the US, Canada and Switzerland, to themes of the Vatican, iconic filmmaker Satyajit Ray's characters to the Red Fort. The festival drew massive crowds after two years of muted celebrations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
