Bengal villagers oppose culling of birds
Malda district in West Bengal may have imported the bird flu from across the border in Bangladesh, or even from Assam. The administration set a target of culling 16,000 birds by Thursday on the ground. But the exercise floundered, with the villagers refusing to part with their poultry against the compensation offered by the government.
