At least 700 Indian students face the risk of being deported from Canada, according to the Punjab government. These 700 students, mostly from Punjab, are at the risk of being expelled from Canada as the authorities say they got visas using fake admission letters for Canadian universities. Punjab's NRI Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal calls it the biggest immigration scam in the history of the state. He says a nexus of fraudsters is behind this, including travel agents, officials of the Canadian embassy in India and other agencies in Canada. The Punjab government has reached out to the centre, demanding an investigation into the matter.
