The BJP and its allies raced ahead in Nagaland as votes were counted today in three northeastern states. The party could face a challenge In Tripura and in Meghalaya, where estranged ally Conrad Sangma is on top. Meghalaya appears to be headed towards a hung assembly, with no party in clear majority yet. Conrad Sangma's National People's Party or NPP is currently leading on 24 seats, seven short of the majority mark.
