BJP appoints Amit Shah in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Varun Gandhi gets West Bengal
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's close confidant and BJP General Secretary Amit Shah has been appointed as the person in charge of the politically-crucial state of Uttar Pradesh. BJP president Rajnath Singh, in a reorganisation of the party's poll machinery in the run up to the general elections next year, has also put controversial BJP leader Varun Gandhi in charge of the party's affairs in West Bengal.
