As many as 16 candidates will contest the Gurugram Assembly seat when Haryana voters go to the polls on October 21. The BJP fielded RSS leader Sudhir Singla in a bid to sidestep the anti-incumbency factor but that upset sitting MLA Umesh Aggarwal. The Congress has opted for experience and named former minister Sukhbir Kataria, who has declared assets worth Rs 104 crore and won the seat in 2009 as an independent candidate. Also in the contest is Sheilza Bhatia, the only woman candidate, from the Swaraj India party.
