According to activist-politician Yogendra Yadav, if the National Democratic Alliance wins, the BJP would have succeeded in doing what it set out to achieve in Bihar – gain ground with ally Nitish Kumar as its puppet while paving the way for eventual takeover. Mr Yadav, a known psephologist, said BJP's gains in Bihar were very encouraging for the party especially since its 17 per cent vote loss in state elections to Delhi, Jharkhand, Haryana and Maharashtra in 2019. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not a factor in state elections, but the party seems to be beating anti-incumbency. The vote share gap is increasing… if NDA wins, Nitish Kumar will be the chief minister," he told NDTV.
