BJP's Big Meet On 2024 Candidates: Stage Set For Lok Sabha Polls

Back-to-back core group meetings are underway at the BJP headquarters in the national capital. The party is all set to hold its central election committee meeting tomorrow that will examine the candidates selected by the core group of different states and take the final call. The ruling BJP has scored emphatic victories twice and doesn't want to take any chances. And the political context is right - there is TMC on the backfoot with Sandeshkhali, the BJP's victories in Rajya Sabha polls, and a tottering Opposition. Sources said that the BJP had a tradition of releasing the names of candidates as elections near, but that changed in the last few assembly polls when the party announced the lists sooner to give candidates adequate time. The first list of the party after the CEC meeting could be focussed on the vulnerable seats not only the ones it lost in 2019 but also the ones it had to work hard for.
