Black Money Turns White: Why Economist Jagdish Bhagwati Says That's Good
Around 37,000 crores have been deposited in Jan Dhan accounts since demonetisation. These deposits have raised concern of black money being laundered using these accounts. Renowned economist Jagdish Bhagwati however feels that's not a cause for concern as that money is benefitting the poor. Speaking to NDTV from Columbia University, Mr Bhagwati said don't call this corruption but treat it like an amnesty scheme.
