The Election Commission has cancelled the parliamentary by-election in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag, scheduled for May 25, citing security problems. It's yet another indication perhaps of the shrinking space for mainstream politics and the dangerous vacuum it's creating. Meanwhile, India today warned Pakistan of an "unequivocal" response to the killing and mutilation of two soldiers yesterday along the Line of Control in Kashmir. Pakistan, which has denied the "barbaric act" said in response today that India "should look inwards" to determine how the soldiers were killed. It sought "actionable evidence" of India's claims. As tensions between the two neighbours rise, we discuss how should India respond?
