The budget has stepped up the capital expenditure sharply by 35.4 per cent to Rs 7.50 lakh crore. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that effective capital expenditure of the central government is estimated at Rs 10.68 lakh crore in 2022-23, which is about 4.1 per cent of GDP. Is the increase in capital expenditure and focus on infrastructure is going to address the job crisis?
