Budget blues for the auto sector
Auto Industry wants the government to reconsider the amended definition of completely knocked down units or CKD units announced in the Budget. The budget imposed a 60 per cent import duty on manufacturers that import pre-assembled parts such as engines. Finance Ministry officials heard out the industry's concerns, but offered no assurance of relief.
