Cabinet divided over Lok Pal Bill

The government was keen that the Cabinet's approval to the Lok Pal bill, the ombudsman on corruption, would be the highlight of the UPA's commitment to probity in public life. But now it seems unlikely that the bill, that has been pending for many years, will be passed by this government. After two Cabinet meetings and a group of ministers discussing the issue of whether the Prime Minister should be included within its purview, there's still no consensus.
