Dharmendra Pradhan, the Rajya Sabha MP from Deogarh, Odisha got promoted during the Cabinet reshuffle and was sworn in as a Union cabinet minister during the swearing in ceremony. Mr Pradhan, son of former BJP MP Debendra Pradhan, has held the portfolio of Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas since May 2014 and had also been a Lok Sabha MP from 2004 to 2009. Mr Pradhan's promotion is believed to be for delivering on one of PM Modi's key promises, of convincing people to give up subsidised LPG.
