Amid the ongoing California wildfires, local rescue centers have become a refuge for displaced animals. At the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank, horses like Dusty are finding safety as owners rush to protect their animals from the devastating fires. Meredith McKenzie, a longtime Altadena resident, wasted no time in moving her horse, Dusty, to the center after hearing of the approaching Southern California windstorm. McKenzie, experienced in dealing with wildfires, explained that horse owners are proactive, evacuating their animals before flames reach their area. As the horses settle into their temporary shelter, the center provides a crucial haven for them and their owners in the midst of the crisis.
