The campaigning for the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections has come to an end. Voting in this final phase will take place on June 1 for the remaining 57 seats. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4. This phase will see the seats of Kolkata and Basirhat - under which Sandeshkhali falls, Odisha, all seats of Punjab and Himachal, and some very important seats in Eastern UP, including Gorakhpur and Varanasi. Winning these seats is crucial for the BJP for a comfortable majority. The fight for nine seats in Bengal and six in Odisha is particularly important because these are the two states the BJP is hoping to make huge gains in. Punjab will test the Congress's strength in the face of a rising AAP in the state, and in Himachal, the party's performance is also key to its government continuing in the state.
