Can compensation erase rape trauma?
The last few weeks have seen an outrage across the country over the rising number of rape cases in Haryana, and that has led to a new debate about the validity of providing financial aid to rape victims. While states have put a compensation provision for these cases on their manifestos, the reality is that it's hardly ever given. And many activists feel that financial aid can boomerang on the victim.
