Canada India | In today's episode of India Global, Canada's latest steps to curb migration is likely to have an adverse effect on tens of thousands of foreign students, including those from India. It will also negatively impact those who apply for work and resident permits. Canadian border officials now have sweeping authority to change visa statuses at their discretion. Under new immigration regulations, they can reject or cancel temporary resident documents, including work permits and student visas, if they believe the individual won’t leave Canada after their authorized stay. Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission of Nepal has sought intervention from its India counterpart to ensure the safety and justice of Nepalese students at KIIT.
