In the Supreme Court's hearing on the coal scam and autonomy for the CBI today, the top court asked the CBI why does it need sanction to prosecute. It came down on the government for not cooperating in the probe, and said Parliament must frame a law to grant the CBI autonomy. But will that be a myth? Is it really possible to free the CBI from political control?
