The midnight coup in which the CBI director was stripped of powers: do the government's explanations add up? The government says they simply went by the advice of the Central Vigilance Commission which is meant to oversee the CBI's investigations. The government says that given the CVC's advice, and that two of the topmost officers of the CBI were fighting with each other, they had no choice.
