Centre Gives More Power To J&K Governor, Opposition Protests
In a significant move, the Home Ministry has amended the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Rules to enhance the powers of the Lieutenant Governor of the erstwhile state. President Droupadi Murmu has given her approval to the amendments. Congress leader Pawan Khera said the Centre is giving more powers to the Lt Governor in anticipation of a defeat whenever the assembly election is held in Jammu and Kashmir, a Union Territory at present.
