The latest round of talks between the government and farmers ended inconclusive after nearly five hours of negotiations. The next round of talks will be held on December 9. After the meeting, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said a new proposal would be placed before farmers after discussions within the government. Balbir Singh, the president of Bhartiya Kisan Union, said the centre made the new farm laws for businessmen and not for farmers. Faced with the biggest farmers' agitation in recent years, the centre has offered to amend sections of the laws, but the farmers - thousands of them are camped out around Delhi's borders - insist they must be scrapped.
