Modi 3.0's first budget presented on Tuesday has become a political flashpoint between the government and the Opposition, with the INDIA bloc parties calling it discriminatory towards non-NDA ruled states. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that the plates of all states except Bihar and Andhra Pradesh were empty in the Budget allocation. He also claimed that barring the states ruled by the NDA allies, several major states have received nothing in the Budget. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was quick to respond and she said that it was an "outrageous allegation". She said a deliberate attempt by the Opposition parties led by Congress to give the people the wrong impression that their states were not allocated funds or schemes. She will also present a detailed response next week. Is this a sign of things to come - of how coalition politics will work?
