Centre vs Twitter: Blocking Dissent?
Social media giant Twitter told a court in Karnataka that the government was unfairly asking it to block handles during the farmers protests in 2021. It has added that the blocking orders amounted to stifling free speech and the curbing of permissible political criticism. The government has claimed that "platforms are misused by anti-India elements for anti-India propaganda". In arm-twisting Twitter into taking down post and blocking accounts, is the government trying to block dissent?
