Cess on domestic crude raised
The Budget 2006-07 has proposed an increase in cess on domestically produced crude from Rs 1800 per tonne to Rs 2500 per tonne. The entire amount will be absorbed by oil producing companies. According to estimates, ONGC, India's largest crude oil producer will have to shell out about Rs 1600 crore more to the Government as a result of this proposal.
