Six kilometres of the Chambal riverfront have been redeveloped with an eye to promoting tourism in Kota. The Chambal heritage riverfront which has 27 ghats each dedicated to an architectural wonder is the flagship project of the Ashok Gehlot government. The Chambal heritage riverfront is an example of how urban development can be planned and executed. Drawing inspiration from Rajasthani architecture the Chambal riverfront has been planned as a setting for the restaurant's promenades a place where cultural performances carnivals and literary gatherings can be held and a centre to promote art and culture.
