Senior bureaucrat Gagandeep Singh Bedi, who spearheaded the fight against tsunami in 2004 in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, has been appointed as the Commissioner of Greater Chennai Corporation amid the second wave of the pandemic. The city has been recording around 6,500 cases every day. NDTV spoke to Mr Bedi and Chennai's Regional Deputy Commissioner on the city's strategy to fight the surge even as it grapples with shortage of beds and oxygen.
