A Tamil Nadu government doctor was stabbed seven times at a Chennai hospital Wednesday morning - by a young man whose mother had been treated for cancer by the same doctor six months ago. The attack on the doctor raised several concerns amid angered Tamil Nadu doctors who went on strike on Wednesday afternoon. Though the strike was called off after a meeting with the health department authorities, the doctors will hold a symbolic protest today and boycott non-patient work for an hour. The state government has agreed to most of the demands of doctors including police security in hospitals, functional CCTVs and restricting visitors to government hospitals in a time-bound way.
