"As far as Kannada is concerned, she has got a connect because she sung Karnataka in 1960s and those songs are still a hit. She also has a Karnataka connect. Her deity here in west - Mangesh temple - from where her name Mangeshkar has come from, it is also very close to Karnataka," said Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
