Maldives President Mohammed Waheed has assured India that its strategic and investment stakes in the island country will not be hit after the tumultuous change of power in February. Dr Waheed is on his first overseas trip, after what his predecessor called a virtual coup at gunpoint in February. The President, after talks with the PM, told NDTV in this exclusive interview that India has no need to worry about China, Muslim extremism or a 26/11 type attack on India from the Maldives. In India, to also lobby for further investment as well, President Waheed told NDTV all disputes will be resolved professionally while honouring sovereign agreements with the previous government.
