Continuous downpour has led to flood-like situations in parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Severe waterlogging is witnessed in various parts of Vijayawada due to heavy rainfall. Police and NDRF teams carried out rescue operations, and affected residents were relocated to rehabilitation centers. Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu inspected the flood situation in Vijayawada on September 2.
South Central Railway General Manager Arun Kumar Jain said, "The damage has been done at 418 km and 432 km. Here (at 418 km), the damage was done at 5 places, out of which we have attended 4 spots, and this is the last and major spot. Similarly, at 432 km, 4 spots sustained the damage, out of which we have attended 3 spots of damage, and the major one is left. We are trying to restrain the water flow right now... This work (restoration work) is expected to be completed by tomorrow evening...We have cancelled several long-distance trains, and some trains have been diverted... It is important for the safety of the people."
