Citizenship Bill Spawns Trouble For BJP In Assam
For about a month, over 50 civil society groups in Assam have been protesting against the centre's big push for the Citizenship Amendment Bill, allowing Hindus from neighbouring countries get Indian citizenship. The indigenous communities and students groups who were the pillars of the BJP’s 2016 victory in Assam are now sending out a clear warning of no support in the 2019 general elections.
