Clearing encroachments on Chennai street
Ranganathan street in Chennai is the busiest and biggest shopping market. But it has for long been facing a problem of overcrowding due to largescale encroachments. Hangers and display tables extend to a quarter of the width of the road both sides, leaving little space for shoppers to walk. But shopkeepers are quick to transfer the blame onto hawkers.
