Climate Strike By Children Turns Into People's Movement In Chennai
The global climate strike has become a people's movement in Chennai after hundreds of children and others took to the streets along Elliot's Beach urging the government and policy makers to intervene over climate change. Residents specifically demanded protection of wetlands in and around the city and urged the government to reject any plans to build new ports on water bodies like the Pulicat Lake. Some children said the environment would be a key poll issue for them when they become eligible to vote.
