Authorities at Uttarakhand's sinking town, Joshimath have started dismantling two multi-storey hotels deemed unsafe after the soil shifting. The process resumed after a revised compensation deal for residents as hundreds protested saying they were not being paid enough compensation. A man was injured after a portion of a road caved in Shoolay Circle in central Bengaluru. This comes two days after a woman and her 3-year-old died as a metro pillar harness fell over them at the under-construction area. Army Chief General Manoj Pande has said that the situation along the northern borders with China is under control but still remains 'unpredictable'.
