An unusually combative Dr Manmohan Singh today hit out strongly at what he said were "falsehood and canards being spread to score political points by none less than Prime Minister Narendra Modi". It is a rather unprecedented war of words between the Prime Minister and his predecessor and comes in the midst of a bitterly fought election in Gujarat. Manmohan Singh's attack comes after Prime minister Modi in a campaign rally, had accused Dr Singh of meeting with Pakistan representatives to interfere in the Gujarat elections.
