The Sivaganga Lok Sabha constituency of Tamil Nadu comprises four assembly segments in Sivaganga district and two from Pudukkottai district. The constituency has been a traditional stronghold of the Congress, with senior leader P Chidambaram winning the seat seven times. His son, Karti Chidambaram, who is the sitting MP, has been renominated as the candidate of the INDIA alliance, while A. Xavier Dass has been named as the AIADMK candidate from the seat. T Devanathan Yadav, an entrepreneur, and leader of Indhiya Makkal Kalvi Munnetra Kazhagam, is contesting as the NDA candidate, making the fight for Sivaganga a three-cornered contest. The Congress candidate seemed confident of victory saying that there is no impact of Prime Minister Modi's recent roadshows in Tamil Nadu.
