The prices of crude oil are falling globally, but is the government passing the benefit on to the consumers? The Congress party has asked the government to cut the petrol price to Rs 32 per litre. Speaking to NDTV, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley trashed the figure of Rs 32 saying Congress' arithmetic on petrol prices is the same that got them 44 seats, when they were expecting 272. He told NDTV that on eight out of 11 occasions that the government has brought prices down, it has passed the benefit entirely to consumers, the remaining three times money has been pumped into development programmes.
