Mallikarjun Kharge is the latest to join the contest for Congress president as an "official" choice of the Gandhis as veteran leader Digvijaya Singh backed out of the race, said sources. Digvijaya Singh, who collected his nomination papers yesterday, has opted out of the contest after meeting Mr Kharge this morning, sources said.
