Congress's Manish Tewari On Next Course Of Action After Rahul Gandhi Convicted

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison on Thursday in a 2019 criminal defamation case over his remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's surname by a court in Gujarat's Surat. However, he was granted bail and his sentence was suspended for 30 days to let him appeal the decision. "The text of the judgment is awaited. We will see it and decide the next course of action. Obviously, there would be an appeal. As far as I understand from news reports, this sentence has been suspended for 30 days for him to appeal. I would like to reverse the charge and ask the BJP, if the courts have arrived at a certain conclusion, why is the BJP exalting over it so much? There are a series of appeals left," Congress leader Manish Tewari told NDTV.
